review 1: Another lovely novel from Maryann McFadden about a woman who quite literally runs away from home while her husband is on a business trip. Unable to take the lonliness of her absent husband, Joanne Harrison, flees from NJ to Pawleys Island where she take a job caring for an elderly woman who, we later learn, has a terminal illness. Of course, her newly promoted husband, Paul, loses his job in a takeover and a series of event ensues which inevitably brings them back together.Once again, the author has a remarkable talent for understanding the emotions prevalent in all stages of life and in both genders. Yet another good summer read.
review 2: I've enjoyed reading McFadden's books back-to-back and loved this one, set at one of my favorite places in the entire w... moreorld: Pawleys Island. She is one of the few authors who weaves multt-generations into a storyline so you can see life simultaneously through the avenues of differnt ages.As with her first book, I found my sensible self wondering about how such a story could work literally but it was well done. I look forward to more. less
