review 1: In my opinion, the clockwork three is a fantastic, and challenging because the author Matthew J.Kirby made the book very interesting and very focused through out the book.I am able to relate to Frederick because we like to build stuff, basically to do new things,i really like to discover new things because you find out stuff that you never new about.I thought about the book i read, and it had a lot of caring in it, but sometimes that caring turns into meanness.I prove this had some caring and meanness in this book because it says,"yea Im Giuseppe.Whats your name? "Pietro," he said and stared wailing."che cosa faro?""shut up kid ." Giuseppe tried to put his hand over Pietro's mouth, see it was caring at first, but it turned into meanness.I like this character (Giuseppe)becau... morese he changes his attitude a lot.The author Matthew J.Kirby is a great author.I wonder if he wrote other books just like this one?
review 2: Three kids' stories collide in a vaguely but not much steampunk city. Giuseppe plays a green violin that he found from a shipwreck and makes money he wants to save for a boat ticket back to Italy. Hannah works as a maid in a hotel and overhears word of a treasure that would help care for her family. Frederick works on an automaton that will make him independent of everyone. There are too many unfinished threads here (why does the grave open? What does Stroop's memorial mean? Where is the violin from? What is Mme Pomeroy running from?) that feel like setup for a sequel, and the title is nonsensical, trying to steal a bit of Hugo Cabret magic. Plus all the resolution seems to require adult intervention. Like so much of post-Potter intermediate fiction, needed more editing and fewer pages.Too many disappointing Caudill nominees this year! But three stars, I think kids will still like this one. less

Once you get to the story (200 pages in), it's quite captivating.
