review 1: If I could I would give this book another twenty stars it still would not be enough!!! I have been in true and lasting love with this series since the very first book, and every book after that has made me love it more. What an ending!!! Brava Ms Brook! Though my heart breaks to say goodbye to these characters, I will re-read every single book over and over for the pure joy of loosing myself in this world again.
review 2: Guardian Demon ReviewDeffinetly 5 stars Guardian Demon is the final book in The Guardians series by Meljean Brooks. The center of this book is Taylor and Michael's romance and the Guardian's final battle with Lucifer.I read this book right after I finished Magic Rises by Ilona Andrews. Initially, I planned to read the entire Guardian series fi
... morerst before reading Guardian Demon, just like what I did with the Kate Daniels series, but I can't stand the anticipation so I forged ahead and read it instead. It's been almost 4 years since I read Demon Moon. I decided then to wait for all the books to come out before reading the series , because I can't stand to wait several months (while looking frantically for spoilers and tearing my hair down in anxiousness) for the next book to come. When I learned that the final book will be Michael's and Taylor's story, I was surprised & conflicted. I didn't like Taylor in the first two books and Michael seems to be a little inhuman and untouchable. I guessed that's what I get for not reading the other books because now I don't know how their character grows. And now, Finally!! The start of Guardian Demon defined the nature of Michael and Taylor's relationship. Michael is riding on instinct after being tortured on the frozen field while Taylor tried to come to terms with her shattered vision of the kind of man that she thinks Michael is.I love how Meljean manage to incorporate Michael and Taylor's romance with the war going on between Lucifer and the Guardians. It doesn't feel forced and you can see their struggle to come to terms with what they feel with each other while actively participating in tha actions of preventing Lucifer from achieving his goals.Meljean wrote scenes in Michael pov and it shows that Michael isn't as unfeeling and as untouchable as I thought he is. He's practically ancient but he's still learning things about himself, and still discoverving new emotions. I'm surprised to find out that I love Taylor! Especially her sense of humor, how she manage to turn everything into porn (probably because I can relate :p) is hilarious. It made me laugh out loud that warranted strange looks from my mom. This is the end of the series so all the characters in the previous books are here and surprisingly I didn't get confused in remembering their names and their abilities considering that I've only read the first two books in the series, so kudos to Meljean for that. The pacing is great and she didn't overloaded my brain with information.Meljean had to tie up loose ends but the story plot didn't ruin the romantic aspects of the book. Reading it is like riding a roller coaster of emotions, I cried bucket loads of tears over Joe (poor Taylor's mom), and I felt hopeless about Savi and Colin . I laugh at insanely hilarious thing (House porn & phallic shape columns :p) and my heart (and other places) flutters with every Taylor-Michael interactions (my favorite - the scenes in Caleum :p).The book is long, 500+ pages (but who's complaining?) but honestly, I didn't notice it and I wish it was even longer. I kept wishing for more Taylor-Michael moments :).All in all, I love everything Meljean writes but this book is simply brilliant. This is her finest work to date. To put it simply, Guardian Demon took the top spot in my-favorite-meljean-brooks-books (moveover Iron Duke :p). less
