review 1: This isn't the kind of book I pick up these days, but I read it for my book club. It's definitely "fluffy" but the characters are pretty well written even if the narrative and writing style are a little rushed at times. It actually kept me up once or twice trying to figure out what would happen next to a certain character. An easy read and a good way to boost numbers if you're trying to read a certain amount per year. Not what I would normally recommend or read again, but it was enjoyable.

... morearacters and watch them transform into the women I undoubtedly knew they'd because. Incidences of tragedy, infidelity, divorce, cancer, children born out of wedlock, and strained family relations filled the book. In the end though, all of the loose ends are wrapped up nicely and way too perfectly, but/so if you're looking for a feel good book, this is it. Also woven throughout are the themes of rising beyond fear, living a full life, and pursuing your dreams. Although I am familiar with many of Meryl Streep's more recent movies, I was unfamiliar with about half of the movies mentioned/discussed in the book. I felt the conversations and discussions about the movies were a little forced and far-fetched, but has made me want to watch the movies because of the way they were described in the book. less

A fast read, with very real characters. A bit predictable.
