review 1: I think this could possibly be the worst book I have ever read. I just don't understand why authors put so much effort into a potentially great book just to rush through and ruin its entirety. The only reason for the two stars is because there was the possibility of a great love story, I wanted so desperately for Sutton and Cael to work out, and there was so many opportunities for this to take place. I was almost gutted while reading the events that transpired over the last third of the book. I just kept shaking my head thinking "No..No... this is all wrong". I was really pinning for the "real happy ever after" and realize that through tragedy and heartache, love can and will conquer all. I just really could not for any circumstances get on board with the reasoning be... morehind this ending.
review 2: I just finished this book and all I can say is WOW! (Not really because I am about to say a lot more). Beauty in the Ashes was the first book that I ever read by Micalea Smeltzer. At first I thought that the story would be a predictable one, but I was so wrong. First of all, I loved the flawed characters in the story. Caelan and Sutton both have their demons, and are real, imperfect people (unlike the “perfect” characters portrayed in many other books). Every time I thought I knew what was about to happen in the story, I was caught off guard; basically a rollercoaster of emotions ran through me as I read! This book floored me, and I cannot wait to read more of Smeltzer’s books (I recently purchased four others). Even if you do not like NA or romance, you must read this book. You will not be disappointed! less
