review 1: After a book that was equal parts Bosch and Haller, The Fifth Witness goes back to its root: pure Lincoln Lawyer stuff. I probably enjoyed it the second most, too, because so much of the intrigue took place in the courtroom. This comes at the price of less action, but this is a court drama, what do you want? Connelly is an expert on procedurals and that's what this is, a step-by-step process through the machinations of the justice system. I thought it worked out great.

... moree's back to being a criminal defense lawyer.I really liked the angle of this one, the credit crunch, not living in the US it's fascinating how different the financial systems are. It also had the familiar characters of the series, his team of misfits and ex-wife + daughter. The reason why I gave this one only three stars is because the ending of the case fell flat. The revelation at the end I guessed and I think was familiar to another Connelly book? However the next book looks promising if it has anything to do with Haller's action at the very end. less

predictable if you are familiar with the thriller genre but still a fun read.
