review 1: I had to give this book 5 stars. Its the first book I have read by this author and I found the book very well written, engaging and looking very deeply into the main character's psyche. There are some wonderful paragraphs in the book, one that comes to mind especially is a statement the author makes about jealousy. I will definitely read other books by Michael Robotham and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read. Its considered a mystery/thriller but its so much more.
review 2: Let me put in a word for my man, Michael Robotham and his new release novel Bleed for Me. The main character Joe O'Loughlin is a psychologist that works part time with the coppers helping figure out tough cases. It� s a character series, but I argue that you don�... more� t need to be familiar with the previous novels to enjoy this one.[return][return]O'Loughlin deals with all the good stuff; coming into middle age (character is 49?), chronic illness, crumbling marriage and dealing with teenage children growing up. The story is interesting, nothing very original, but still readable, violence, murder, etc& . Characters are flushed out and not stereotyped.. The real draw, though, is the snippets of insight that flow throughout the novel. Spot on and astute observations into human nature. [return][return]You have to get through the � parole hearing� or whatever it is, that consumes the beginning. It is overwrought and his editor certainly did a disservice by not heavily editing it down. The rest of the novel is gold, though. less
