review 1: Like all of his novels, Robotham cuts to the heart of the matter with gritty tension, and a protagonist you want to succeed. Having built a strong back story for each of his characters through this series, you feel a strong emotional investment in the outcome, and want will want to jump into the story to protect them. If you love reading crime and mystery, this is well worth the time. If you write crime and mystery, this is a lesson in how to do right.
review 2: While I enjoyed this book as I read it, I was a little frustrated by the end. I'm not sure if the author had a hard time bringing it to a close or if it just didn't tie up well, but I found the threads that were meant to tie the parallel stories together, confusing and not well defined.
