review 1: I find this book to be good, but not really all that great. Noa and Peter are pretty well made characters, but I do have some slight problems with them. Some parts of the plot seem to happen just for the sake of happening, and I didn't feel all that sad whenever a character was going through a tough time or died. The book was moderately well written, but there were a few things I didn't really like all too much about it. A fine book, but nothing to write home about.
review 2: This was the second book that I just picked up just because it was a Gateway, and I didn't expect a lot out of it. For one thing, reading the back of the book just confused me. I had no idea what I was getting into, or that it would be this good! I am now freaking out because I don't have ... morethe second book in the series to start immediately, that's how good it was. The two main characters, Peter and Noa, are such unlikely allies. Not only are their personalities conflicting, they come from totally different backgrounds. But their experiences have shaped them to combat the company AMFR (a group that is experimenting on teens to find a cure for PEMA, Noa being one of the escaped test subjects). Throughout the novel, the two are racing to find safety, and also searching for a way to save the other test subjects. I could not put this book down, and it is my favorite book out of the four I have read this year. I can't wait to read Noa and Peter's next adventure, and hopefully hear of their triumph over AMFR. less
