review 1: Michelle Gagnon's Don't Turn Around had me hooked from page one. The novel is fast-paced and suspenseful, with interesting characters. Set in future Boston, the world is dealing with a deadly disease that strikes teenagers, PEMA. Noa, the main character, is a throw-away kid who was kidnapped by rogue researchers looking for a cure. She escapes, and the hunt is on. In addition to the medical angle, the book also features a hacktivist perspective. My only problem with this book is that it is part of a series, like so many YA novels. I wish YA authors could learn to tidy up a storyline in one book.

Päähenkilöä, 16-vuotiasta Noaa on syystäkin verrattu Lisbeth Salanderiin, ovathan molemmat kovia ja itsenäis... moreiä hakkerimimmejä, joita hämärämiehet jahtaavat. Kaikkine demoneineen Noa ei kuitenkaan ole ihan niin vahingoittunut tapaus ja tytöllä on selvästi pehmeämpikin puoli, mikä tekee hänestä samaistuttavamman.Oikein mukiinmenevä nuorten trilleri ja trilogian avaus. less
