review 1: 'I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review ' Ixtab is the Goddess of Suicide. She cannot touch anyone or any living thing or else they will immediately find a way to kill themselves. She punishes herself and wears a veil constantly because she believes that she killed her one and only love. She is sent to try to help Antonio because he became blind and is not handling it well and he has a Mayan Tablet that they need but they don't know how to get it to open a Portal. They need him to open it. Antonio has been having dreams of a woman. A beautiful woman who wants him to open a portal with the Tablet to save her. He believes that he is destined to be with this woman. So he cannot figure out why he is so... more drawn to Ixtab. And when she makes the choice to have him turned into a Vampire, she ruins his plans to save his brother from a terrible fate and he cannot bring himself to forgive her for it. He can't stay away either. Once he realizes that she is his mate will it be too late?My opinion: LOVED it, of course, I think this one might have been one of my favorites. I think that Ixtab gets the short hand of the stick for the most part. Who wants to kill everyone you touch? The other gods aren't usually that nice to her. I think Penelope was a good change she started to show Ixtab some kindness and her first nickname. It seems to me that Antonio and Ixtab have a love hate relationship through the book. They both can't seem to stay away from the other but they don't want to be with the other for their own reasons so they are hateful to each other constantly. This is a great book where one goddess who deserves love may find her happiness and as the last book left off with a cliffhanger we find out what happened with Kinich and Penelope and many more surprises. I highly recommend reading.' Read and Reviewed by LSK Sweetheart Reviews'
review 2: In Vampires Need Not...Apply? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff, Antonio Acero is a brilliant scientist intent on discovering the secret to an ancient Mayan Tablet. But that does not mean that’s all on his mind, he only takes enough time to eat and bed any beautiful women he can. Ixtab the Mayan Goddess of Suicide has the power to save good people by removing suicidal thoughts from their minds, unfortunately her powers have to sides, once she removes those negative thoughts she must release them on someone else. Usually she tries to release them on evil people. But that does not always happen for if she accidentally bumps into someone, the energy gets released onto him or her. This time, Ixtab accidentally releases the energy onto Antonio’s housecat. Antonio has becomes obsessed with the woman in his dreams and no matter whom he beds or how many women, he can’t get her out of his mind. He may seem like a shallow man, but his past has dictated the man he has become. Ixtab has been tasked to get close to and help Dr. Acero figure out how to use the tablet and open the portal for an important mission. When Ixtab first meets Antonio she believes him to be womanizing man-whore who happens to look a lot like her departed soul mate. Whom she accidentally killed 200 years ago and the reason she wears all black and covers her face with a black veil as punishment. But Antonio will not get her get away that easily, no matter what she says. Well there are lots of subplots in this book, and I have to say you have to read the previous books in this series to know who the others are and their own stories if you don’t want to feel out of the loop. Regarless, the story of Ixtab and Antonio will make you laugh will all of it’s dark humor and the tension between them. But no matter what, this Vampires Need Not...Apply? will keep you laughing and giggling throughout the entire book. One thing I can assure you the previous books in this series are in my shopping and TBR list. If you like a good, fun and slightly different type of read, don’t miss Vampires Need Not...Apply? by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff. less

This is quite possibly one of the most ridiculous books I've ever read. And not in a good way.
