review 1: A thought an alternate ending was supposed to be that: an alternate ending. This was one was practically identical, except to change names to account for survivors. And yet, as identical as it was, it was even more depressing, if that's possible. But the part that gets me the most is that it paints Georgia as weak, in my opinion. I've come to look up to her and this ending shattered my views on her somewhat. I get it, I do. But I don't want to. My own opinions of the characters aside, since more than 3/4 of this was copy/pasted from FEED, I can't review this as anything more than a copy, and I can't justify more than 2 stars.
review 2: Well, I thought I didn't like the ending of FEED due to the survivors at the end (I didn't care for the character that survived
... more at the end the first read through but they started to grow on me the second time through) but the ending to this was more final so I understand why Mira Grant (Seanan McGuire) ended the book the way she did. It was interesting the way the alternate ending was, but I have to say I wasn't surprised with how it ended. There were a lot of hints throughout the story of how it would end if the story went this way, and the entire time you hope it won't, but Grant/McGuire sticks to what she hints at. The story picks up after Ch 25/26 and continues to the end. It's available to read off of the FEED facebook page once you like the page-the only way to get access to the story. I'm glad I got a chance to read the alternate ending since it answered a lot of questions I had if the ending did go differently. And now I'm glad the story went the way it was published since it led to the rest of the trilogy. If you're a fan of the first book, I say give this a read-just to see how things could have turned out. As for me, I'm off to read Deadline. :) less

Really glad this wasn't the real ending. Taking a strong character and making her weak.

I think I prefer having one more than none?
