review 1: This story follows a dog from the city that moves to the country and befriends a frog. They spend the year having fun and adventures together, but during the winter the frog never returns to their meeting place. The story concludes with the dog waiting for the frog to return, but instead meeting a chipmunk and befriending it that spring. The way that this book is written, the story comes around full circle, ending similarly to how it started. This book was really sweet. When reading this book, seeing two animals instantly becoming friends, it brought me back to childhood, where friendship was that easy. You just agreed to be friends and that was that! The end of the book is somewhat sad, because it seems implied that maybe the frog died, but that is how life goes. Sometimes... more you lose friends along the way, but there are always new friends and memories to be made!
review 2: During the spring, City Dog ran without a leash all over the green grass and bumped into Country Frog. Country Frog taught him Country Frog games like jumping, splashing, etc. Summer soon came along, when City Dog taught Country Frog City Dog games like sniffing, fetching, etc. During the fall, they played remembering games because they were too tired to play any other game. City Dog was sad in the winter because he couldn’t find Country Frog anywhere. When spring came around again, City Dog still didn’t find Country Frog but made a new friend named Country Chipmunk. In City Dog, Country Frog, the pictures were very colorful and matched along with the seasons in the story. The pictures had a painting texture to them that made it very pleasant to look at. less

Oh! I could have cried at the end of this one. Sweet, deep, but not heavy-handed.
