review 1: It is cute, but I don't think most kids get the whole silent film/drama aspect. You really need a tinny piano plunking out dramatic music for it to be truly appreciated. Also, it doesn't send a great message. It isn't 'strangers are bad' its more 'do whatever you want and it will work out' I got it for my 3 year old, and she liked it, but I wish I had read it myself first. I wouldn't have gotten it if I realized what it was.
review 2: With a format inspired by the silent movie era, That is NOT a Good Idea! is a goofy tale written and illustrated by Mo Willems. The evil villain portrayed by the fox lures the innocent damsel, or goose, through the woods and to his kitchen where the soup is missing a key ingredient. The story alternates between the wordless illust... morerations and the black background with white lettering. The action is interrupted by some animated ducklings that lends itself towards audience participation. Children will delight in calling out why each action taken by their mother duck is not a good idea. Perfect to read aloud, the surprise ending is both humorous and rewarding. less
