review 1: Liked: the setting, the atmosphere of the very hot summer, the forest &c.; not sure about: the constant switching between narrators/point of view with little punctuation, so it requires an effort to work out which character is talking. This is the 2nd in the series about Malin Fors, and like the 1st it uses the voices of the murder victims after death, sometimes just about succeeding in communicating with the living (but not in such a way that they realise it). This is a bit odd, but once you get used to it it does work.
review 2: Alongside the other stars of Scandanavian thrillers, Stieg Larrson, Henning Mankell, Jo Nesbo and Liza Marklund, Mons Kallentoft is putting his hand up to join them. His character is Police Malin Tors, a flawed (aren't they all ??) bu
... moret persistent and brilliant investigator, with a dysfunctional private life. A heat-struck Swedish summer is the backdrop for a serial killer whose target is young girls and who Malin and a holiday season skeleton police team are out to stop before there are any more deaths or sexual attacks. Kallentoft is a seriously engaging writer with impeccable plot and character development skills. Once again Malin and her collaborators work their way through numerous red herring trails to identify the killer. I really rate Mons writing. less

really wanted to like this more but slogged through it. didn't enjoy the characters or the prose.

Quite the thriller! Not for the squeamish - un-put-downable, especially in hot summer weather.

Yeah, ok. Very dark, great oppressive atmosphere... Seems to drag on a bit.

I just could not get into the rhythm of this book.
