review 1: do you like halo? do you like magic? then you are in luck! myke cole combines military strategy and sorcery like they were meant to be together. imagine if you will a world where people are magical, meaning sauron style sorcery...gandalf wizardry not the my little pony kind of magical...in fact imagine gandalf as a fucking marine. and that's right about where you can expect to land in shadow ops. and from what i understand it only gets better...haven't started the second book yet but it is in the to be read stack. hoo-fucking-rah. buy this book.
review 2: Usually when I say I love martial fantasy, I am talking about trebuchets and pikemen laying siege to medieval castles and the like. I picked up "Control Point" to read because Myke Cole is a friend of many of ... moremy favorite authors, and I have enjoyed his commentary on Twitter, and am very glad I did. Cole's brand of urban military fantasy is packed with action, magic, and cutting political commentary. This was a great first book in what promises to be a great series. less
