review 1: This book could be read by a boy or girl who is 3-7 years old. This book is about how little wolf wants to touch and feel a leaf in this tree and asks big wolf to get the leaf for him. Big wolf tells little wolf to wait until the leaf falls but the leaf never falls even in autumn or in the beginning of winter. So to make make little wolf happy, big wolf finally climbs the tree to get the leaf, then gets to the leaf and crumbles in his grasp. But before the little pieces of the leaf leaves in the wind, the leaf gives little the touch and feel he wanted so badly and then the leaf leaves in the wind. This book has nice pictures and color.Batchelder Award winners 2010
review 2: The second story about Big Wolf and Little Wolf. At first Little Wolf wants the tender gr
... moreeen leaf to eat, then in the summer he wants the shiny green leaf to use as a mirror, then in the fall he wants the soft brown leaf to rest his cheek against -- and each time the Big Wolf tells his to wait, that soon it will fall. When it doesn't, Big Wolf climbs the tree despite the snow of winter. It's so high that Little Wolf worries and decides it probably isn't worth the risk. When Big Wolf finally reaches it, the leaf crumbles. But rather than disaster, this is magic: the pieces look like "a rain of gentle stars" and Little Wolf tastes a tiny piece, sees how bright one is, and feels a gentle piece slide along his cheek. A perfectly lovely ending. less
