review 1: Big Wolf and Little Wolf is about a larger wolf who is used to being alone, he eats, does his exercises, sleeps, and goes on walks, alone. That is until one day a little wolf comes by, he doesn't say much of anything but just joins Big Wolf in his daily activities. Then as soon as he was there, he was gone until one day he came back and they both realized they missed each other and from then on they never separated. It is a simple book with painted like illustrations where Big Wolf and Little Wolf are cute and very eye appealing, where Big Wolf is a blackish color and Little Wolf’s fur is a bright blue color. Chang is good; it is able to create good friends like in this book. Where Big Wolf didn't know he was missing out on friendship until he had it and then thought he... more lost it, it shows readers to show gratitude for towards their friends. review 2: Britney MorganAudience: I feel like this book would best fit grades k-2. This is because the story line is about friendship. The pictures in this book would also be for this grade because they are very basic and very colorful. The words in this story are also very easy for these grades. Appeal: I believe this story will appeal very well to the younger grades. This is a time period when they are concerned with friendships and who they can and cant be friends with. This book has a great message saying that everyone can be a friend no matter the differences. The pictures in the book will also be a great guiding factor that will show them the differences and how they don’t affect their friendship. Application: In the classroom I can use this when talking about differences in students. I can also talk to them about friendship if there is something going on in the classroom with students not being kind to each other. It is a good that is great at helping start the conversations about those topics in the classroom. At first he is wary of this stranger who silently joins him for exercises at the top of the tree, lunch at the base, and sleepy time against the trunk. But when Big Wolf goes for a walk and comes back to find Little Wolf gone, he realizes that "a little one, indeed a very little one, [has] taken up space in his heart. A lot of space." Big Wolf waits through a lonely winter, until one spring day a tiny dot in the distance slowly grows to become Little Wolf, returning at last, and a beautiful friendship begins. This translation has careful phrasing. Tallec's colorful illustrations play off the quiet dignity of the text, revealing emotion through the characters' stances and expressions, employing a sketchy painting style that brims with light.-Kathleen Kelly MacMillan, Carroll County Public Library, MD (c) Copyright 2010. There is nothing in this review that is not in the book and nothing in the book that isn’t in the review. It is also very through and gives you a good idea to what the book is really about. less
