review 1: This story is about a big wolf that has been happy to live by himself under a tree without any worries until a little wolf shows up one day. At first, big wolf was skeptical about little wolf, but he soon realized that without little wolf around he became very lonely. At the end both wolves admitted that they cared for each other and enjoyed each others company. The genre for this book is juvenile fiction and it is intended for ages 3-7. I enjoyed reading this story because it reminded me of having an older brother who looks out for me. The visual appeal is really great. The pages are full of color and the wolves are drawn in a funny way. This story could be used to talk about the topic of caring and worrying. Students could talk about how it feels when you are worried abo... moreut something and what are the different things they have been worried about. They could have a discussion about what helped them to worry less. Then, they could talk about what it means to care about something. The students could come up with different ways they could be caring on that school day, and at the end of the day, you could ask the class if they were able to be caring on that day like the wolves were to one another.
review 2: Audience: The audience for “Big Wolf and Little Wolf” would work anywhere amongst Kindergarten through second grade. The pictures are simple and the story line is easy to follow and understand. They also love books about animals.Appeal: These children would love this book because of the fun and colorful pictures. I think they would also love the storyline because it involves friendship. Kids at this age are just beginning to make new friends in the activities they do, so they can easily relate to the story. Award list: Batchelder Award WinnerCopyright: 2009Application: I can use this book to teach my students about how special friendships are. They can learn how to be a good friend, and that it is important to be there for their friends. They can learn from the wolves that it is great to comfort and provide for each other. Overall, this would be a great tool to use to show kids how they should act towards others around them. less
