review 1: Although I felt this is the best of the four books I've read so far in this series, I'm only giving it four stars because ....(spoiler alert!!). . . Peeler cheats us out of the sex scene between Anyan and Jane at the end of this book. The gooey, yummy, sexy writing that was so prevalent in the first two books starts to disappear by the third book and is almost non-existent by the fourth book. However, of the four books, this one by far outshines the first three in plot and creative storytelling.
review 2: I really, really like this series.Any comparisons made with the Sookie Stackhouse series are gone after the first book. Jane is truly a badass, undergoing rigorous training so she's fully capable of taking on the bad guys. (I particularly loved the end of thi
... mores book. She defeats the bad guy, and is still called "kind" because of who she is.) She never trades power for personality, remaining the same sordid little hussy she was in the first book. Her libido is a character unto itself in this book, which can get annoying, but sometimes makes me giggle over how immature it can be. And yes, I say "sordid little hussy" as a compliment, because she makes the comments about the same guy, not different ones, and tries to refrain from coments not about that guy. I really liked how this one picked up immediately after the third book in the series, not several months later and her breezily telling us what happened. Poor Jane though, never having any fun.Peeler also discovered grown-up words! No more chesticles, huzzah. Instead, we were treated to a delightful scene or two, which were much, much better written than scenes from the first two books. The end...ugh. I know, vaguely, what happens in five, because I read summaries and spoil myself all the time. I'll still read, because these characters are entertaining and you care what happens to them. This ending, I'm assuming, is where all the stuff hits the fan, and I hate when that happens in books. But I need to know the events leading up to the icky stuff. less

I do like all the crazy characters but the sexual innuendo is way too much it's not funny anymore!
