review 1: I think this is a book where the characters vie for attention with the plot. I've really grown to love Jane and her sense of humor. I loved Anyan, even though I thought I'd always be a Ryu girl.Like the first two books, the mystery starts off a little slow. However, when the action picks up boy does it take off. It helps that in the down time when the characters aren't fighting, there's still tension and a sense of urgency that keeps the story moving. Plus the development of Jane's and Anyan's relationship also helped keep me riveted.
review 2: This book has a complicated beginning. Not that the plot is complicated, bit the fact that Jane once again makes things more complicated than they need to be. The book begins with Jane going on and on about how she fantas
... moreizes about being with Anyan but he is no where to be found. Anyan finally shows up to tell Jane the bad news that her mother is dead. But what does Jane do, she shoots the messenger and go running back to Ryn who obviously knew her mother was dead and didn't tell her when he called. At least it doesn't take her half the book to figure this out.The thing that frustrates me is how Jane is the the to blame when it comes to messing things up with Anyan. Throughout the book, Jane has numerous opportunities to take a chance with Anyan, but she always goes the other way. Or she is to scared to jump in and go after him. I like how things ended with Ryn. I don't think they made a good couple. I am glad the author left things open with Jane and Anyan. The plot in this book was better than the last book. I felt this book held my attention throughout. There was a lot of action and the mystery romance was exciting. less

3.5 stars. I don't think I'm ever going to love this series, but I may keep reading it a little longer. This was probably the best in the series to-date - Jane was significantly less annoying. If the series had started here and continued to get better, I'd be more pleased. As it is, there are still some writing quirks that aren't working for me (tone/voice of the series is maturing, but still a little child-like for my taste). Also, apparently this book was brought to you by the word "libido" as it was used pretty much every other page. Not as in Jane having lots of sex, but as in her libido talking to her. *facepalm* JUST enough was hinted at & revealed that I want to read more to find out what happens next (and I don't hate it enough to completely drop it - although I was teetering on complete indifference through most of this book). I think I'll see what the library has to offer for the next in this series.

I have to say, I'm very happy I listened to a friend of mine who told me I should stick with this series. This book was so much better than the first two! A big reason for that in my opinion is that Ryu is not in it much. I've never liked him, and I definitely didn't miss him here. The plot started off quickly and honestly never really let up. I kept finding myself wanting to read just one more chapter before going to bed. For someone in their third trimester who really just wants to sleep all the time, that's definitely saying something lol. I'll definitely be reading book 4!
