The First Formic War
review 1: Not quite as engaging as the first in the First Formic War series, but very close. The first book had more character development and depth and the second book had more action. It has been fun to see the developments play out that cause the world to become the bleak place it is in Ender's Game. One in particular is the seed being planted for child soldiers that would later save the universe from the evil Formics. A strong 4 stars, almost gave it 5.
review 2: This was a fun book to read, but didnt have any really profound messages or insights and wasn't writen quite well enough to make it worthy of five stars. Surprisingly, having Arron Johnston "help" write the book didn't seem to hurt the writing. The only things that I didn't like was that the killer clif
... moref-hanger ending. Presumably it was an attempt to save something for the next book, but I felt like the ending was a bit unresolved. less
