Batman and Robin Vol. I
review 1: I have to admit I've been reading the Batman and Robin books so feverishly that I am starting to get the specific stories they tell all jumbled up. The problem also is that I've been getting the books from the library so I'm also reading the stories out of order. In my head I've divided them into pre-Bruce's return and post Bruce's return. I think both scenarios offer intense relational stories. I like the pre-Bruce's Dick Grayson struggling to find himself in the Batman cowl and I like the post Bruce's return Batman coming to terms with the greater implied intimacy of Robin being his flesh-and-blood son. In Dark Knight vs White Knight it looks like Dick has found his groove in the Batman suit and in his relationship to Damian, the new Robin (and Bruce's son). Una Nemo's s... moretory was my favorite. Jason Todd's was my second. My least favorite was the one that grabbed the title of this collected volume. All of the stories were good but the one that grabbed the title of the book was the weakest of the three.
review 2: This is a collection of 2 different 3-episode arcs. The first Arc, with White Knight, who attempts to cleanse the bloodline of criminals, is an interesting look at means vs ends and a shallow but creative new opponent, who unfortunately doesn't seem likely to return. The second arc, focusing on Jason Todd, isn't nearly as philosophically interesting; just straight action and a little delving into Todd's psyche. less

A fairly decent read for Dick Grayson as Batman, along with Damian. But nothing noteworthy.
