Monsters in the Dark
review 1: The diatribe that happened in the first half of the book was so thick and repetitive, i thought this book was awful. The book kept repeating the same situation, thought, and theme....over and over and over and over again (and it would only be fitting if I used another over in that sentence!). I found myself skipping to dialogue only just to get through the plot. I read one review of this book AFTER i saw how highly rated it was and i couldn't agree more, that review was only 1 word - AWFUL!
review 2: I'm sorry to say this, but this book went a little “over the top”, for me. Excessive. Exaggerated. And this is simply not my thing. The first book has been so perfect, I felt completely and totally involved. I suffered. I lusted. I loved. This second one has
... more made me more and more distant and cold. Too violence and too extreme situations, some quite unbelievable (him challenging the Russian mafia… muhmmm I don’t know…), they somehow dwindled my attention. Everything, every emotion and situation and action, seemed always stretched to the utmost, and this is something hard to keep up with emotionally. Perversely I am more involved when really strong and extreme feeling and situations are more diluted in the story and I feel them growing, anticipating. I don’t know if I’m able to convey my thoughts. However PW writing is very good, as always. less
