review 1: A very enjoyable read. At times I found it a bit slow paced and my overall impression is that it spent 480 pages steadily building up to a thrilling 50 page conclusion. I also thought that the way the two storylines were put together felt a little forced at times and I found myself wanting to get through the historical chapters to get back to the modern-day murder mystery. Although the two storylines knit together in the end I think it was this element that slowed the pace and prevented any real tension being built in the search for the killer. But all in all it kept me interested throughout and I would recommend giving it a read.
review 2: Every book I have read of Peter May I have really liked. I met him last year at a book signing last year he was so nice. I
... more would highly recommend The Blockhouse trilogy. Set in the Outer Hebrides if Scotland where I live. Entry Island is an entertaining read. It is set of in Entry Island of Quebec. I had never heard of this place before. It starts of with a murder in the island. It keeps going back to the highland clearances in the Outer Hebrides. The two running stories are very intriguing. I won't say any more so as not to spoil the story. All I can say is I was two thirds in and as soon as I got home tonight I finished the rest since I didn't want to wait to find out what happened. Stuff the housework for a few hours! less
