review 1: Three stars for the intricate plot (for a short story) and characterization it gave to Abban, though I didn't find it to be particularly enthralling. The deleted scenes were interesting from the standpoint that it gives you an idea of what editors are looking to cut out when they read through books. I can see why they cut his prologue out completely, and I can see why he loved the scene as well, it just didn't fit.
review 2: I have a hard time reviewing such a short work and although the story is a fun little contribution to the world, there just wasn't enough of a conflict for me in it. Arlen vs. Demons, but then having read the Painted Man/Desert Spear I know that he's not about to die while looking for pottery, so it's pretty much a deleted scene from the pa... moreinted man, not really a stand alone story. Anyways, it's good reading for fans of the Demon War Cycle. less
