review 1: This story is a fun read. This fictional book is perfect for a younger age class. I have been introduced to this story through a class of mine and ever since I picked it up, I have fallen in love with it. I think that this story is so original and so much fun. After Amos McGee a zookeeper gets sick and cannot attended work the animals he works with decide to come spend the day with him and take care of him. I think that this story has a great message. That no matter what or who your friends are they will always be there to have your back. The story is well written and well illustrated. The pictures use color and black and white to emphasize the pictures. Young children will love the pictures and the story. The text reinforces what the illustrations are portraying. Students... more can draw a picture to show a time that they had at a zoo to use it in the classroom. Stead, P. C., Stead, E. E., & Roaring Brook Press. (2010). A sick day for Amos McGee.
review 2: This story brings the reader into an atmosphere of friends corresponding to a child's interests and imagination. Its about an old man named Amos Mcgee who has friends that he likes to spend time with at the zoo, enjoying each individual with exclusive activities. One day Amos is absent and his friends are worried, because he has not showed up to the zoo. Going to the zoo was a routine for Amos. Consequently, his friends decide to pay him a visit. They find out that he is sick and spend the day with him. This book is good encouragement for children to display friendship. Each page brings realistic illustrations that add to the vibe of the book and bring out the characteristics of the animal characters. It will help the reader learn how to treat their peers appropriately. WIth anticipation of each page, the reader will stay intrigued and entertained throughout. A Sick Day For Amos McGee was one of my favorite books I read all year. It was about a bunch of animals that took care of the zookeeper when he fell ill one day. Amos McGee always visited his good animal friends and took very good care of them, so when he wasn’t their one-day the animals decided to switch the roles. This shows the friendship a person can have with animals. It always teaches it is okay to try something you’re not used to doing. This is made for all races and ethnicities. It is a fiction book but easily connectable if you have someone close to you that you care about. This would be for middle age grade school. Stead, P. C., Stead, E. E., & Roaring Brook Press. (2010). A sick day for Amos McGee.

“A sick day for Amos McGee,” illustrates with words and pictures, what it means to be a good friend. Amos McGee is a zookeeper who is always making time for his friends at the Zoo. He gets there early everyday to do activities with the elephant, the tortoise, the penguin, the rhinoceros, and the owl. Illustrations show that when Amos McGee got sick, all of his friends ventured to his house instead. Everything that Amos did for his friends at the zoo, they did for him at his house. This book could be used to discuss the dynamics and values of friendship.Stead, P., & Stead, E. (n.d.). A Sick Day for Amos McGee.
