review 1: It's been a long time since I last read R. A. Salvatore. I vaguely remembered his work as pedestrian but sometimes fun.The stories in this book didn't live up to that memory. The prose was extremely purple. The dialog was stilted and very few characters had a recognizable manner of speech that set them apart from the rest. The plots were thin, and predictable.I downloaded this Audible book for free, mostly for the novelty of the narration cast. Unfortunately, that was mostly a failure as well. The "star cast" were not very good at performing audiobooks. A few of the readers did a decent job, but were unable to save the stories themselves. Sean Astin, Al Yankovich and Tom Felton did decent jobs with what they were given.

... moreer if I'd already read the main stories of Drizzt, which I haven't. This collection was fairly random in content, in that each story covered different side characters and items related to the stories of Drizzt in some way. Only a few of them actually contain Drizzt, and that was unexpected given the title of the anthology and all. So be forewarned. As for the stories, there was only one I'd give a 5/5 to, The rest ranged in quality, several 2s and 3s, and only a few 4s.Overall the narrators were an excellent pick. My favorites were probably David Duchovny, Felicia Day, and Wil Wheaton. less

I liked the lich and dragon story. Salvatore should write more in between stories like that.

Good short stories amounting to a quick but memorable read.
