review 1: Thoroughly enjoyed this book which is the parallel story to 'The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry', telling as it does the tale of Queenie, dying of throat cancer in a hospice in Northumberland, stunned when she hears that Harold has decided to walk the length of the country to visit her but, unable to speak she decides she has to write a last letter to Harold, explaining how she felt about him, why she left 20 years before and confessing some things she has always felt guilty about, a poignant and moving story which I probably enjoyed even more than Harold Fry - 9/10.

... morel and Queenie is such a lovely, quiet, admirable character. You might be tempted to feel sorry for her and her unrequited love for Harold Fry, but her life and how she lived it is redeemed in her final moments and that's all you could wish. It is a lovely meditation on living and dying and loving whether it's reciprocated or not. less
