Detours are always good. I was chilling in Kalpa for a couple of days hoping that the road ahead to Nako (Spiti) would get clear, but that was not how fate had decided. the third day had started and there were no signs of the landslides getting clear. I had met this group from Mumbai earlier on my route in Chitkul while I was sipping the amazing ginger lemon tea. Amazing people, later I realized. I met the same group again in Kalpa and bored of this waiting and waiting and waiting, they had decided to take a detour and leave for Tirthan Valley. I instantly decided to leave with them. Now it was already late when we left Kalpa, so by the time we reached Jalori Pass, it was almost evening. the ride till Jalori pass was quite good. Jibhi – a small village in Tirthan valley, where we were supposed to stay was just 10 – 12 K.M from here. But it took us more than 90 minutes, some breathtaking moments (literally), continuous brakes and 10 ounces of blood The road conditions were not really good, it was raining, it was almost dark, and it was complete descend with very sharp turns frequently. It was one of those rare rides where I feel relieved after I have reached. Was it worth it? ek sau ek takka !!! . Within a year, I have gone to that place twice – that’s how much I have started loving that place.
Jibhi is a small village in Tirthan valley with not so much of tourist and a completely relaxing place. I remember I spent the entire day in the cafe [Dolly Guest House] with this newly met friends and I didn’t even realize how the day finished. Next day we went to Jalori pass again. Jibhi is a paradise for nature lovers. there are plenty of easy trails that are surrounded by lush pine and cedar forests all around. One such trail is from Jalori pass to Serolsar lake. It’s a 5-6 K.M. trek with simple easy flat route with a couple of steep patches.
Trek towards Serolsar lakeTo make it more interesting you can take an uphill in the beginning and reach another point called shooting point.
Mesmerising view from that site. Chai point at serolsar lakeHave you visited Jibhi yet? Comment your crazy detour story this year.
