Book Tag: Top 10 Book Covers

Hello Bookworms!

I hope you’ve all had a lovely weekend!

Thanks to TheMystiqueReader for tagging me to share with you all my favourite ever book covers!

As we all well know, you should never judge a book by it’s cover, but hell, who are we all kidding here?! Of course we’re judging! A cover is the first thing that captures my attention when it comes to searching for books. If it looks pretty, I’ll check it out and probably buy it anyway, regardless of it’s content. If it’s ugly… yeah probably not going to pick it up. I’m shallow, what can I say?

So narrowing this list down was REALLY FREAKING HARD.

I would have had no chance of deciding, so to start with I have selected books only that I own. Any on my wish list are not included.

Here goes!

10.

City of Bones (10th Anniversary Edition) by Cassandra Clare

I love the simplicity of the colour scheme on this cover. The dark blue background with silver detailing is gorgeous, and the symmetry in the design is so satisfying!

9.

Rebel of The Sands by Alwyn Hamilton

This cover is stunning! I adore the colouring and the gold foil really just makes the book stand out. I equally love the covers to the sequels Traitor To The Throne and Hero At The Fall, but I figured book 1 should get the spot on this list.

8.

Warcross by Marie Lu

Hello, uh RAINBOW! Of course this would be on my list, I’m a sucker for all things colourful! And under the dust jacket of this book is even more spectacular…

7.

Nevernight by Jay Kristoff

I love this cover design so freaking much! It’s mysterious, dark and twisty, whilst being equally beautiful, intricate and delicate. This is one of the books where I’m proud to have the UK edition.

6.

Flame in The Mist by Renee Ahdieh

If ever there was a time for purple and orange to be together, this is that time. I am in love with the colour scheme and artwork on this cover design! The news recently broke that the covers will be changing for this series for the release of the second book, which I’m fine with because the new covers are equally as gorgeous, but I have to say that I do prefer the black background and the contrast that it creates against the colouring.

5.

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

I told you, bright and colourful wins it for me! I love the oranges and reds in this, and the way that everything is built up using such simplistic shapes really caught my eye. It also gives you a sense of the African setting and culture. Usually, adult fiction covers are a bit dull and boring, but not this one! No-sir-ee!

4.

Empress Of A Thousand Skies by Rhoda Belleza

Although I didn’t really love this book for it’s content, the cover is still one of my favourites! The purple galaxy effect background is perfect. It’s just so so pretty!

3.

Sky Song by Abi Elphinstone

This book only came onto my radar just over a week ago at work! I adore the colour scheme; the turquoise and blue against the white is beautiful and the silver foiling just adds that extra wintry, icy effect.

2.

The Bear and The Nightingale by Katherine Arden

This was a seriously close contender for the #1 spot… everything about this cover is beautiful. The colours are striking, and I love the woodland images.

1.

Wicked Like A Wildfire by Lana Popovic

It’s not surprise that this takes the #1 position! I’ve taken so many photos of this book just because it’s so dang pretty. The colours are stunning, and it’s not TOO busy so it doesn’t distract too much attention. Also, the title font is so lovely, I wish everything could be done in that script!

What are some of your favourite book covers?
