Congratulations Laura Moore of Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry on your Commendation in the Woman Who…Networks Category.
Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry is a 4 star property based in the city centre, just a short walk to Coventry train station and with over 200 car parking spaces on site it is very accessible. The hotel comprises of 166 bedrooms including suites which overlook historic Coventry.
I joined Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry 11 months ago and I feel that I have made a significant contribution to the business along with providing a positive representation of the hotel to companies within the area.
“I am not someone who normally would nominate themselves for an award, as I thought this is slightly big headed. However after the encouragement of various people who attend Woman Who… and feeling so motivated from the speakers at one of the quarterly events, I thought why not? What have I got to lose? I would urge anyone to do this as it was a great time to just sit back and reflect. I found myself entering and looking at what I have achieved in the 12 months that I have been at Ramada Hotel & Suites Coventry. With my role being a Sales Manager, I am always focusing on what I need to achieve next, but taking the time to look at what you have achieved is a real confidence boost.
To then be shortlisted from 130 people to 40 people and meeting the 2016 finalists/winners over the past few months, I knew the pool of talent within the Coventry & Warwickshire area, how could I be shortlisted? I am sure everyone would agree with me the support from Sandra Garlick for this process was amazing, you could not ask for more.
I attended the interview with 4 judges (Sharon Redrobe, Paul Carvell, Ian O’Donnell & Emma Heathcote-James) and the 10 minutes was up before I knew it. The other nominees included Julie McGarrigle, Ann Burton, Rachel Wade, Caroline Kempster, Karen Heap & Rebecca Jones. Some of these contacts I had met previously from networking and I really respect them, so I was just honoured to have been shortlisted.
The Woman Who Awards were held last Friday at Coombe Abbey, it was such a classy event to celebrate all the great work that everyone has achieved with great food, entertainment and some very inspiring talks. Julie McGarrigle won the category ‘woman who networks’ (a worthy winner) but then I was given a commendation for coming so close. I left with such a high and will ensure I embrace this opportunity and look forward to attending future Woman Who events, after all as Sandra mentioned this is not a one off event but an all year round celebration of everyone’s achievements. After all what do you have to lose? I will now be the person encouraging people to go for the award!” (Laura Moore)
