Nope, not a cover of the 1981 Olivia Newton-John joint. However, the anchoring cut for Crater’s new record unearth is similarly focused on all things tactile. The Seattle based synthpop duo is looking to get physical. But it’s not the sort of physicality meant to bring two people closer together. The way Cecilia Gomez delivers the song, it’s not even a kind of getting physical that’s replete with passion. Here, atop deliciously retro synth lines and rumbling bass, she’s looking to get physical to simply stave off loneliness. “I’m through with love, I only want the temporal” she coolly summarizes in the song’s all-too-brief chorus. Instead of searching for forever, Crater offer up a song that wants that which is totally fleeting.
unearth is now available for purchase on Bandcamp.
