Ever Bloom, was an ordinary girl who had anything a girl wants. She got a normal family that love her. She was a member of her highschool cheerleader, a prestige position for every girls dream. She got good friends to hang out with. And most important, she got a cool boyfriend too. Until an accident came to her family. She lost all member of her family: Mom, Dad, her sister Riley, and their dog Butercup. She was the only one that live, with a strange psychic ability to see people’s aura and read minds. She blame herself for living. She wants to cross the bridge with her family. She then shut herself from people. After moved with her Dad’s twin that lived alone, Sabine, she decided to wear unattractive clothes and hoodies to the new school.

She lived like a zombie since then, with a hood covered her face and scar from the accident. She prevented reading people minds by using earphone all the time. She becaming a freak at her school. This lead her to found another freak friends: Haven the gothic girl, and Miles the … er… gay.

Someday, the ghost of Riley appear in her room. She talked and did everything just like when they’re still together. Ever was the only one that can saw her. The weird things not stopping. There were a new transferred student in her school, Damen Auguste. He was so dazzling that made all girls in her school melted.  Including her. But she always refuse what she felt and try to avoid looking at Damen in any occasion.

But Damen was interested in her. He came to Ever’s haloween party eventhough he was not invited. And their romance started there. As Ever find Damen is kinda different from other people. He always disappeared sometimes and he never continue coming to school. But he stay genius in every subject, including art.

On the other hand, Haven befriend with some weird community. She introduced some of her firneds to Ever and Miles. It was Evangeline and Drina. Ever had met Drina once in the hotel when she was having a dinner with her aunt. Drina was with Damen, long before Ever and Damen became a lovers. But seeing her again beside Haven looked suspicious. Until Ever found Haven in almost-death state in Damen’s arm. Ever then found herself in her bedroom and the vision of Haven was like a bad dream. She then decided to stay away from Damen until all the secret revealed.

This novel was like a Twilight version of the Author. Many comment in Goodreads said that. I think it’s true, except this novel has so many Author’s dreamy imagination. I mean, I was curious about the secret of Ever’s ability, Riley appearance, and Damen’s weird aura. All about fantasy thing was just used for decoration until more than half of the book. The Author exposed too many dreamy dating of Ever and Damen. If she wanted to do it, at least she should write a longer action and climax for Ever-Damen-Drina relationship and their immortality things. So the portion would be 50:50.

I borrowed this book from a library, since it’s hard to found high quality English book with nice price. I thought to leave this book once, but change mind due to my hunger to write a book review. There are two (I guess) sequel for this novel, but I don’t think I can read any of it. Except when there are no books to read anymore. Actually this kind of romance-fantasy wasn’t really my cup of cake. In fact, I just read the first volume of Twilight saga when all of people talking about it at that time.

The diction that Author use was good, it’s just lack the typical mainstream story.

So I give 3.1 stars for this book.
