My Blood Approves #5
In the final book of the My Blood Approves series…
Alice has moved on and is settling into a new country with a new career as a vampire hunter. Finally, she’s created a stable, happy life for herself and her family, including her boyfriend Jack. Or at least as stable as her life can be, especially with a dangerous vampire cult resurfacing.
But everything she’s worked for is put in jeopardy when she receives a disturbing message – one that sends her on a quest that delves into a tragic mystery that has haunted Peter for years.
Goodreads
I can’t believe the series is over, actually I can’t believe we got this book. The fifth book was planned but due to unforeseen reasons it didn’t seem like it was going to happen. For those of us who has been with the series for years we thought that there is no way that Amanda is going to write this book. I mean it was Goodreads for a long while and even Amanda had written a note on her website stating that she doesn’t know if she was ever going to write this book, then in the fall of 2016 a cover appeared and all of her fans (at least I know I did) went into total shock. It had been over five years since the last book was published and I just gave up on it but when I discovered the cover (new covers by the way) I did my happy dance.
Readers like to critique writers all the time and not necessarily in the most positive way and I think that a lot of readers did that to this series but I for one loved this series and I am not alone. The My Blood Approves was a bit of a different concept for vampires, some vampires were more like human, how relationships are and how the group of vampires (“coven”) could feel like more than family and then there was the love triangle to end all love triangles.
Swear was a good fit with the rest of the series and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, I loved having a new story of beloved characters in my hands. However I did have some problems, one it felt a little rushed two I don’t feel that the Jack Alice Peter triangle felt like it played out correctly, not necessary with the guy chosen, something about it feels off and finally, why Amanda, did you have to crush my heart in the last book, that was unnecessary. I am not going to lie, if you love the series and characters there is an event that occurs that you might not be okay with. It crushed me and yes I was crying and just in general not okay.
Overall I really did enjoy the story and I want to say thanks to Amanda Hocking for one last adventure with Alice and the gang.
