In my home town we have what is called “Community Reads” where a group of people get together and pick a book(s) to inspire the whole community to read. In 2017, they didn’t decide on one book, but rather a topic, which was birds.
My boss told me about Owl Moon being one of her favorite children’s books. It has beautiful illustrations.
The story is about a little girl and her father who go looking for owls in the winter and how you have to be very quite so you don’t scare off the birds. For me, this was more about the girl wanting to spend time with her father and not to get discouraged if you set out on an adventure and that adventure doesn’t turn out exactly how you want it to. Sometimes, you won’t see an owl if you go looking for them, but you start the journey hoping to see one.
This is just a very cute children’s story.
