Review: Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder

******* 5.0********

First book of the series “Little Woods”, is said to be the only one which has the innocence or happiness of existence. Because Author has narrated her own experiences in her family when she was a 5 year old girl.

Set in 1871, Laura (Author) narrates her life with her elder sister Mary and a baby sister Carrie along with her hardworking parents, who lied in a log cabin in the woods. Whole story is based on author’s own memory and her feelings when she was 5 and that makes the book one of the best without a doubt.

The story goes on about their daily life, stacking food for the winter, her father hunting, relatives visiting etc. There were wolves and bears in the woods who always confronted the Ingalls’s one or the other way. Her father was kind, but didn’t like disobedience and punished them when the kids went wild. Her Mother was a beautiful woman who cared for her kids. Her sister Mary who had blond hair often had some fights with her but was a good natured girl. And baby Carrie was just a baby. Thus goes the story tracking Laura’s 5th year with the year’s events.

It was a beautiful read. I had to look up the author and her family but felt bad on how everyone turned out later in the family which confronted only tragedies.

Happy Reading!!
