HERE’S MY REVIEW!
I have to admit, the hype surrounding the book is incredible! Literally everyone in the book community talks about it when it first releases. I am one of the people who really anticipates this story and after reading, I am not disappointed.
Marie Lu writes good stories and this can be proven by The Young Elites series but I have yet to read the last book, The Midnight Star. She is capable of writing stories and words that can capture the audience so easily.
Warcross follows a 19-year-old girl named Emika Chen, living in New York City and trying so hard to make ends meet by being a bounty hunter who catches illegal betting. Everything upsets her from unavoidable debts to being jobless until this one moment when she tries to hack into the Warcross Championship of The Year and causes a bit of upheaval in the games.
“Every locked door has a key. Every problem has a solution.”
She travels across the globe to meet Warcross inventor, Hideo Tanaka, 21-years-old Japanese who is bloody rich and genius and also has successfully controls the Earth’s population by inventing the games. Her life changes completely when she is offered a job as a spy by Hideo.
Emika Chen and Hideo Tanaka ❤
WARCROSS. Literally everyone plays it. Everyone anticipates and looks forward for the games. Players of Warcross earn millions of dollars for participating. Warcross is the way of life.
I must say, I do not anticipate a few of plot twist at the end of the story. In Goodreads reviews, some people do expect it, I just don’t know how you guys do it.
“When you refuse to ask for help, it tells others that they also shouldn’t ask for help from you. That you look down on them for needing your help. That you like feeling superior to them.”
The plot twist somehow changes the concept and scenery of Warcross from a fun game to a humanity crisis. I love it how the story holds a strong message about how humanity works and how humans have their own weaknesses and boundaries into certain aspects of life. I am also confused about who and what I now stand with. This is such a mystery and problem that is yet to be solved and this maybe can be answered in Book 2.
I am really looking forward for Book 2.
