The Braves’ latest track, “Side by Side,” proves that once again, some of the most exciting music these days is coming out of the Australian continent.
These Melbournians play a dark and smoky style of guttural rock that fits somewhere between the likes of Reverend Horton Heat and later-day Iggy Pop.
“Side By Side” is an especially spirited number. Swaying at a drunken waltz-like rhythm, the track channels a goth-rock cabaret vibe with its David Johansen-esque vocals and spooky, devilish guitars. Being hypnotic and delightfully creepy in all of the right ways, it’s easy to imagine The Braves completely controlling whatever room they perform this track in.
This song makes you crave to hear a full-length album by The Braves, so let’s hope that one will grace our ears before the end of 2018.
