The Ten Commandments
Exodus 20 (ESV)
And God spoke all these words, saying,
2 “I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and the fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing steadfast love to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.
8 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.
12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.7
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.9
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor’s.”
Above are the Ten Commandments in Exodus Chapter 20 in their entirety. It’s ironic that it’s these commandments that Alabama Supreme Court Justice, Judge Roy Moore was best known for until now. In 2003 it was Roy Moore’s very public battle over displaying the Ten Commandments in his courtroom that led to him being removed from the bench. In 2012, he got elected to the Alabama Supreme court as Chief Justice once again. Once again he took a very public stand against an issue, this time gay marriage, once again he was removed from the bench.
Removed from the bench twice for taking a stance for his religious values, he decided to run for U.S. Senate. In 2017 in an Alabama runoff election for senator he beat the sitting senator Luther Strange.
Recently Roy Moore has been in the news lately as several woman have come forward accusing him of sexual misconduct. It’s Ironic because either Roy Moore has violated the 7th commandment, or his accusers have violated the 9th. Roy Moore has denied the allegations and both his Church, as well as other evangelicals, are standing with him.
I recall, there was a time when (then presidential candidate) Donald Trump faced similar, or even more serious, accusations. Making matters worse for him, there were lewd comments from him caught on hot mic, and recorded. He dismissed the talk as “locker room” talk and for the most part people saw the accusations as a political ploy from the Democrats.
So the questions remain, are the accusations against Roy Moore also a political ploy from Democrats?
It’s likely. We know that at least one of his accusers has been an active Democrat Party activist, with a history of accusing several pastors of the same thing. I recall similar talk about Donald Trump’s accusers during the election. To make matters worse for Roy Moore, not only are democrats throwing everything at him (including the kitchen sink), Republicans are turning against him as well.
Just as they were against Donald Trump, the timing of these accusations against Roy Moore is very suspicious. One has to wonder why these women are coming out against him, now, as his runoff election nears its end. Why didn’t any of these women come forward earlier? Especially considering Roy Moore’s very public battles in the past.
Terry Crews is an accomplished actor, NFL player and all around muscle bound tuff guy. He is also very devout and outspoken Christian. On his Twitter page he describes himself as: “Lover to my wife, father to my children, friend to my friends, and servant to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
Recently Terry Crews came forward with his own experience. Terry described a very inappropriate encounter from “high-powered” male entertainment executive, who was later identified as WME agent Adam Venit.
In attempt to hush the encounter, entrepreneur and producer Russell Simmons urged him to “give the target of his sexual-assault allegations a pass”, even Radar Online threatened Terry with blackmail intending to discredit him with a false story about him hiring prostitutes. Terry was prepared. He released the email correspondence of all the threats as well as proof the story was fake.
Again an attempt to discredit a very outspoken and devoted follower of Christ, only this time Terry was prepared to fight back, but it would seem that those who are bold for the Lord in the public arena are being persecuted.
Ever since Harvey Weinstein made the news there have been allegations of sexual misconduct in Hollyweird almost continually. It’s hard to keep track of them all as it seem like everyone is assaulting everyone. With so much out there, it’s refreshing to see the opposite.
Several women have come forward accusing actor Kirk Cameron (a well known and very devoted Christian) of treating them with… dignity and respect!
Refreshing change but it makes one wonder if he will be the next victim of fake news.
