The Power of Brokenness

As I was listening to Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts preaching her sermon on “Chain Reactions,” my spirit was shifted. For a long time, I had been in a state that has caused me to stand still in my spiritual journey. It caused me to read my Bible less and talk to God less however, while listening , I realize that in my brokenness is where God works. In my times of need is where God shows me my calling and in my lonely nights is where God is mending my wounds. I’ve come to realize that this world and the spirits that have manifested in it promotes doubt. It places holds on blessings and showers rain on spiritual parades but yet there is something on the inside of each and every one of God’s people that still strives on. It’s that Power of our brokenness. By brokenness I don’t mean pain or hurt, I mean that yearn for God to fill them with His presence. Or the need to be wrapped in God to walk without stumbling.

As a child of God, it is not our job to be perfect. Matter of fact, God doesn’t call us to be perfect. In Isaiah 64:8 it says that “You [God] are our Father; we are all clay and You [God] are our potter; we all are the works of Your hands,” meaning everyday we are being molded, shapened, and crafted into what God has called us to be. Not this world, not it’s people, but God. So no our brokenness isn’t in vain; it actually tugs on the heart of God and draws Him closer to our aching spirit (Psalm 34:18). It draws him near so He can give us fresh anointing and guide us on His straight path so that ultimately we can have joyful, everlasting life in His Kingdom. So don’t push away your brokenness, embrace it and pray that God fills each gap with Him presence. Ask Him to use your brokenness so that you can pour into someone’s life who has been through or is going that’s what you went through.

Don’t allow the devil to make you fearful of confronting those doubts that harbor on the inside of you but instead allow God to shape you with armor to fight the battle of overcoming what it is you struggle with. Know God is working in your behind to prepare a place for you where strength is everlasting.

Yours Truly,

Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts sermon
