Top 5 Wednesday: Authors You’d Want to Write Like

Hey guys! I’ve been loving the Top 5 Wednesday topics this month and was super excited to get to this one! We can discuss some authors we’d want to write like whether its their writing style, what genre they write in, or how many books they manage to churn out a year! Obviously I’m going to be talking about my favourites authors!

This group was created by Lainey (Gingerreadslainey) and is hosted by Sam (ThoughtsOnTomes). If you want to participate, check out the link on Goodreads here.

1) Cassandra Clare

I must be mad not to include Cassandra Clare on this list! Who wouldn’t want to write like her? What must it be like inside her head? She must honestly have so many ideas and so many characters swirling around. I love all of her books so much! I really admire how many new books she announces every year and how she is probably just constantly writing. I’d love to dedicate as much time as she does to writing. I love how all of her plots and characters are connected to different series. It’s honestly so freaking cool and I admire her so much for being able to do this. She’s so creative.

2) James Dashner

I love how James Dashner manages to end every chapter on a cliffhanger and manages to keep you hooked from start to finish. Every time I told myself I’d put the book down, a mind-blowing scene happened and I just had to carry on reading. His writing is so addicting and easily makes you want to devour the entire book in one sitting. I loved The Maze Runner and the The Eye of Minds! I want to read his other books soon just to see if they are as good as these two were!

3) Tahereh Mafi

I think Tahereh Mafi has a really interesting writing style and I’d love to be able to write like her. It was so fascinating reading Shatter Me with all the sentences crossed out and seeing them gradually disappear as we got nearer to the end of the book. I loved how it seemed like all these words were pouring out of Juliette and it didn’t matter if they made sense or not.

4) Ransom Riggs

I’d love to be able to write like Ransom Riggs because I think he is so damn creative. He wrote a whole freaking trilogy based on some peculiar photographs he collected! He created this whole world of peculiar characters and animals. I find that so amazing and seriously applaud him for it! His writing was really incredible too. I was completely hooked and I became so attached to the peculiar children. I’d love to be able to look at something and put a story to it. That would be so cool.

5) Becca Fitzpatrick

I honestly think Becca’s books are so addicting. Every new book she releases I easily read it in one sitting. It’s so easy to just immerse yourself in the story and the characters. I love how descriptive her writing is and how she spends time building a past for her characters. Every book I read by her I fall in love with the characters and find myself lost in the story. I’d love to be able to have the same writing style as her.

What authors would you love to write like? Do we share any? Feel free to leave a comment below or a link to your post so I can go read it! I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you so much for reading!
