review 1: I thought this book was okay. There really wasn't much Sam in it and it mostly focused on Dean. I know the plot is set between Season 5 and Season 6 but I still didn't like how Dean and Sam were separated. It just wasn't as exciting as it could have been if they were together.Other that, it was good. The premise of the plot was good, with the Necronomicon and the witches were even stronger than what they've actually shown in the show so that was cool. I like the parts that focused on the past during the Salem witch trials. Those parts were very interesting and fun to read.This book was also pretty well written. There were a few spelling errors, more than what I would say is in other books but that doesn't bother me too much.Overall a pretty good read but the boys don't int... moreeract at all throughout the whole thing (obviously) so that's a downside.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. For 9 seasons now I have been hoping for a Salem episode and this book pulled it off. I liked soulless Sam. We got to see something that they didn't have in the show, his internal questioning. Loved it. He is funny in his trying to understand but ultimately not caring way. I really enjoyed the Campbell journal reading. It was nice to see that history. This book was horribly edited. Up to the middle it seemed ok but right about at the middle it went down hill. I'm talking sometimes 3 mistakes on one page. Missing words, added words, wrong words, double partial sentences, missing punctuation, etc. Other than the editing it was a great look into the missing year. less
