review 1: I'll admit that the story in this volume was engaging enough that I finished it. The Apocalypse twins are definitely pretty interesting. However, I started reading this series because I thought it'd be a good point to try and read a little Avengers, especially mixed in with some of my favorite X-men.Wrong.It seems that to fully understand what's going on in this series, you need to have been reading Marvel's Avengers and X-men books for the past, oh I don't know, five years and more? Which I haven't. So a lot of these references are sailing over my head and just confusing me. Especially with all the Apocalypse stuff.
review 2: Behold! The Four Horsemen of Death! As I read through this Volume, I kept waiting for the start of a big battle, but it turned out to b... moree the set up for Ragnarok Now! , which is Volume 3.Very nice to see some throw back to the storyline of Uncanny X-Force, that I haven't yet read, so I really appreciated the rehash of that story, as it is pertinent to understanding some of the motivations of this Volume.The Apocalypse Twins are cool and their logic regarding humans and mutants seems pretty straightforward. I know a "separation" event like that would seriously alter the Marvel Universe, so I am wondering if "Ragnarok" takes place before or after "Infinity". Overall, I would appreciate a small boost in speed of the storyline, but I kind of like the build up too. Only questions I have : Where are you Apocalypse? I know you wouldn't let anyone have your throne willingly... AND "Red Onslaught"? This should be awesome, and hopefully can be used to bring Xavier back into the fold.Recommend. less
