The Riddle in Stone
review 1: This was a great book. I will admit I bought this one because of the cover, and I was pleasantly surprised. I had no expectations for this book and it blew me away. The characters are realistic and behave naturally. Things actually happen to them in this book. No fairy tale ending, no easy escapes or predetermined victories. Everything is hard fought and hard won. Bad things happen, good things happen, just like in real life. People who should stand up and be noble are asses and common people try their best. Time passes. What more can I say, everything about this book felt real and I loved that. Looking forward to seeing where this story ends, I'll definitely be buying the next book.

... moreead found this book, but the description intrigued me enough to read it. MAN am I glad I did! Starting out I didn't really like Edmund; I think that is due to the "Standard Fantasy Hero" cliché we have embedded into our minds. However, with continued reading I started to really like him (It takes a GREAT author to change my initial view of someone or something). Overall, I am extremely glad I read this book (and the second) and I will recommend it to all of my friends!!! I recommend this to anyone who is looking for something new and original. less

It starts out slow and a bit clumsy, but in the end I really enjoyed this book.

I used to really love books like this, but good lord, the tropes and cliches.
