review 1: This volume seems like a transitional part of the story. Sure, there is at least one big revelation toward the beginning--but it's not actually shocking. Other than that, the gang meets some new people who seem to good to be true (not the first time that's happened), people disagree about stuff, Rick gets a haircut, and Carl does boring Carl shit that nobody cares about because Carl sucks. It's alright. There's even an LOL moment went a dirty old man tries to make some time with Andrea. But nothing big happening here.
review 2: This was quite good. Though it really does feel like it's going over the same ground, at least as far as the conversations between Rick and his son. (Actually at this point I think his son is my favourite character and definitely th
... moree best in terms of character development). Plotwise it felt like the story took a total left turn here. The plan about the government research facility turned out to be made up. I have to wonder if they'd been planning that all along or if it was just a better idea came up. It was interesting to see how after surviving for so long the party was totally incapable of trusting those who had a "normal" life again, even though they seem to have accepted it when they moved in. It does feel more like a tv show than a graphic novel as it seems like the stories keep plowing ahead without much forethought. But then maybe that's intentional as in this situation it wouldn't be neat but kinda one big ongoing mess. Going to keep reading. less

The Walking Dead, Volume 12, Life Among Them is a transitional installment of this terrific ongoing graphic novel series about apocalypse by Zombies. Rick’s band of twelve wandering survivors reluctantly accepts an invitation to join a walled community, which amazingly provides an opportunity to live in a safer and much more comfortable environment. However, they are wary about their new protectors and their safe community. Something just seems off about them and the situation seems too good to be true. This is a transitional volume, but still a very interesting read in this fabulous Zombie apocalypse tale. This graphic-novel series is the original Walking Dead and in my opinion it is much better than the TV version. I highly recommend turning off the screen and reading the books instead.

This book finds the group of survivors running into another 'normal' human being - one that promises a piece of paradise free of zombies and madness. And for all intensive purposes, it is all that. But when you've lived on the run for over a year with constant vigilance, you don't always believe what you see. Or at least you understand that there is usually more to the picture than meets the eye.Not a lot of zombies, but it's not exactly normal either. You wonder how long before it all falls apart.

Don't trust this! It's gotta be too good to be true! Watch your backs!

This is where it starts getting boring. Not terrible, though.
