review 1: What I love about this book, among many other things, is the fact that women now feel empowered to write about whatever they want to. We are no longer limited to a (generally unhappy) domestic sphere. Robinson does a great job of describing PTSD after Iraq, with compassion for not only her main character, but also for the women--his girlfriend; his sister; his mother less so--with whom he interacts. Definitely worth reading!

Conrad Farrell studies classics at Williams, then decides to join the Marines and is deployed to Iraq. Four years later he returns home and tries to resume his life. This book is beautifully written and raises many ... moremany difficult but important issues about war in general and the Iraq/Afghanistan wars in particular; and about the traumas faced by both the returning soldier and his/her loved ones. less
