review 1: This was the first book in the Guardian Angelinos series. When Zach left for war, he left Samantha without even sending a postcard. As Samantha turns to Zach's sister when her life is in danger, she finds that Zach has returned with an injury, and he reluctantly takes on the role of her protector. I love romantic suspense, and I loved Samantha and Zach's story. It had the perfect balance of a good mystery with complicated twists, and a passionate love story between the wounded hero and the woman who loves him. A large Italian family offers plenty of colorful, lovable characters.
review 2: I think this one might now be my favorite Roxanne St. Claire. It was made even better by the prequel on the author's website, which is a fleshing out of the backstory that ... moreyou learn about throughout the book. I was feeling a bit petulant about her move to new publishers meaning that they didn't really want her to keep writing a series that she had been doing for the old publishers (Bullet Catchers) since i really liked that old series. I was reluctant to even read this new series of hers but she suggested it to me a few times. Finally I gave in and boy am I ever glad that I did. Now, I am excited about the next two books in the series and any to come in the future, even though it looks like there aren't to be any more Bullet Catchers. less
