review 1: Enjoyable book but I would watch the summary of the book you read prior to purchasing because I somehow was given a much different impression of what this book would be than it turned out to be. That being said, the two problems I have with this book, outside of conceptual issues that are so up for debate that mentioning them feels almost silly, is that the book itself felt like a giant exposition. as the first book in a trilogy I guess that's to be expected, but what took an entire book could probably have taken a few chapters and a quick summary because the buildup takes so long for what little action payoff there is. My second issue will probably be answered by reading the later books. I'm one book in and I already feel as if the author's written himself into a corne... morer. There's still potential but I'm expecting a deus ex machina situation to appear very early in book two that allows for any real progression. nothing inherently wrong with that, but I'm getting a little tired of deus ex machinas dragging stories forward passed their logical or likely conclusion.
review 2: We are all just parasites. This was a very good book. It's more a guys book in my opinion but that could be just because the two main characters are guys. It had a very interesting story. There were times that I thought Aubrey (yes its a boy's name too) was a little selfish when it came to his friend Jimmy. But again maybe that's a girls way of thinking maybe a guy's head would be like that is just normal stuff. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next two books. less

Interesting concept. Nice contribution to the dystopian literature.

The problem with Paradise is that someone needs to run the place.
