review 1: Such a charming fable. I hope I remember the lessons when I lose someone I love. I really like that the neighbors and neighborhood, and cats, were drawn from life. And yes, though this is distinctly a book for adults, kids (as young as 4?) could benefit from it too. Maybe they'd experience the book on different levels or in different ways - but that's ok... this is art, and interpretation of art is up to the viewer/reader.
review 2: The story is very simple yet poignant and liberating at the same time. The nicely drawn pictures say more than the words and for me it was a breath of fresh air. I've finished the book in 20 minutes but the message could stay with me for a long time. I have thankfully not lost anyone in my life but I know it's inevitable and whe... moren the time comes, I'll cherish the pain and joy of being reborn, as I would remember learning from this book. less
